Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Today we celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day at Our Lady’s School. We began the day with a liturgical celebration in the School Hall where over 120 grandparents and special friends gathered together with the staff and students. The Our Lady’s choir sang songs about the importance of family and there were prayers of thanks to God for the gift of our grandparents. Children from all classes shared their individual thoughts about their grandparents. Thank you also to our Parish Priest Father Peter who joined us and gave a special blessing to all the grandparents and special friends.

After this the grandparents and special friends were welcomed into the classrooms. What a joy it was to see the grandparents and special friends interacting with the children in the classrooms.

We deliberately chose this day as it is the Feast Day of St Joachim and St Anne who are Jesus’ grandparents. We wanted to honour and give thanks to all those who support the children of Our Lady’s school. Everyday we see many grandparents come to our school dropping off or picking up the children and doing many other things to support them. We were blessed to have so many grandparents join us here at Our Lady’s school today. We feel blessed to have you as part of our school community.
